Well…it’s an honor being in the AFI Top 100

Especially when it is culled from hundreds of thousands of songs from the movies…

The Rose came in at: 83

Wind Beneath My Wings: 44

Bette spoke briefly, like the other stars on the show, on certain songs…The Rose (a metaphor for Mary Rose coming to the realization that she would never be loved for herself) , WBMW’s (it says flat out that I owe my success to you), Gene Kelly’s I Got Rhythm, Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5, Barbra Streisand’s Evergreen (Bette wondered why Streisand never wrote more because this song was so beautiful, Judy Garland’s The Man That Got Away, (her artistry was so fine that she moved people and that was her gift) and Judy Garland’s #1 Over The Rainbow (she’s able to sing something so simple and specific, yet makes it universal…that’s what an artist does)

These are one of those lists that you could debate about with your friends…

Overall, a very enjoyable show…brought back a lot of beautiful memories…

Love, Mister D
