Despite the recent World Health Organization dropping of its SARS alert in Toronto, filmmakers are still edgy about working in the Canadian film center. The latest casualty: the remake of ”The Stepford Wives,” now moved to the Kaufman Astoria Studios in Long Island City, N.Y.
The film, starring Bette Midler, Nicole Kidman, Glenn Close and possibly Matthew Broderick, is the project acting siblings Joan and John Cusack exited in order to tend to their ailing father, Dick.
