Charity-event attendance is also on the rise. Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project has already sold more tickets than last year for its annual Hawaiian-themed Hulaween gala, spokeswoman Roberta Greene said.
“Fortunately we’re doing very well,” Greene said. The organization raised $2 million for cleaning up New York and planting trees at its “costumes or else” event in 2007.
Emmy-winning comedienne Kathy Griffin will serve as master of ceremonies. Entertainment will include a performance by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine.
