Bette Midler: Doesn’t Trust People Who Don’t Like Food
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 @ 10:57am
Today on the Rachael Ray Show, the infamous Bette Midler was a guest. She talked about her lovely daughter who she “worships,” her Las Vegas show at Caesar’s Palace, and her conservational group, The New York Restoration Project – which supports community gardens and is committed to their goal of adding 1 million trees to New York City in the next 10 years.
In the middle of the segment a few audience members were able to ask Bette a question, and one audience member asked her:
“If you feel the pressures of Hollywood, with your looks, keeping your looks up, having to stay super thin?”
Bette’s response:
“Super thin, I gave up – I had to give up – if I’m healthy I’m kind of happy. I’ve taken to strategic dressing. I dress strategically, I show the good bits, and hide the bad bits – and of course there’s more bad bits than there are good bits, but you try to keep a good attitude about it – at least your still breathing….”
Rachael Ray chimes in and says she likes food too much. Bette comments,
” I love food, I love food. I don’t trust people who don’t love food.”
Bette goes into an example of women not eating at a luncheon, and said the Chinese chicken salad was too small, after shouting out during her recap of the event “where’s the rest of it!”, she turns to the audience with her finger in the air:
“I’m a big believer in portion control, and do believe Americans on the whole put too much food on the plate.”
