On Monday evening, June 13, 2011, long-time friends Bette Midler and Paul Simon reunited to support and perform at the Children’s Health Fund’s Annual Benefit in New York, where they surprised guests with a rousing performance of “The Boxer.” Political elite including former Mayor David Dinkins, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, New York City public advocate Bill de Blasio and Sandra Lee, first girlfriend of NYC, were also on hand to support the cause.
I was there. It was probably the most amazing night of my life besides being a smug. Going backstage was amazing and Bette hung out for what felt like at least half an hour. Very gracious woman….she said “my fans! my fans are waiting!”
