ATL MALCONTENT
Atlanta’s long history of craptacular films continues

There have been exceptions, but when I think of movies made in Atlanta I can’t help but remember gems like “The Slugger’s Wife” and “Freejack.”
It’s only gotten worse.
The Billy Crystal-Bette Midler movie “Us and Them” is filming in Alpharetta and the Vince Vaughn–Ben Stiller–Adam Sandler movie “Neighborhood Watch” is filming in west Cobb County this week.
The suburban location fits the latter movie well. They play a group of suburban dads who somehow stumble onto a nefarious plot to take over the world, and thus are pressed into service to save the planet.
Vaughn was in Atlanta a year ago to make “The Dilemma” with fellow comic titan Kevin James. The “Footloose” remake, opening Friday, was filmed here. So was “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” which features a godawful cast (Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez) in a “comedy” about expectant mothers.
Almost makes an Atlantan yearn for “Cannonball Run” and “Sharky’s Machine.”
