New York Restoration Project‘s Junior Committee invites you to the 6th Annual Buds Bash:
Wednesday, April 25th, 2012
Casa La Femme
140 Charles Street, NYC
8:00 PM
In celebration of NYRP initiatives and in memory of his sister Cha-ron, Derrick B. Harden (a.k.a. Dear Derrick & The Band and Couture Ink) will be joining the Buds for the annual Buds Bash at Casa La Femme on Wednesday, April 25th, 2012. Born and raised in Brownsville, New York, Derrick grew up around poverty, drugs, and crime, and, at the age of 12, he witnessed the murder of his sister, Char-on, shot in the face by her childhood boyfriend. From being a high school dropout–in one of the city’s worst neighborhoods–to performing Hip-Hop and curating high-end art in New York City galleries, Derrick managed to transform his life despite adversity. Derrick, like NYRP, sees potential for change in even the worst situations. For this reason, he is joining NYRP as an honorary co-chair during this celebratory event, and to support NYRP’s dedication to create greener, more sustainable spaces in neglected neighborhoods like Brownsville. NYRP and Derrick’s family will also be planting a tree in memory of Cha-ron in Brownsville later in May.
Please come join Derrick and the Buds Co-Chairs, Jonathan LaSala, Stephanie Owens , Matt Parker, Jon Recor and Alysha Westlake, on April 25th as we kick off spring and continue the movement to better the lives of New Yorkers.
Music, hors d’oeuvres, eco-friendly cocktails courtesy of VeeV Açaà Spirit, a silent auction and more!

ABOUT THE BUDS
The Buds are New York City’s next generation of protectors of our precious parks and community gardens. The Buds bring together some of the city’s hippest and greenest individuals ”“ aged 21 to 40 ”“ who are looking for meaningful, yet engaging ways to immerse themselves in the environmental movement that’s not only sweeping New York City, but the entire nation and planet! These young, green activists are integral members of NYRP, participating in events and activities, and introducing friends, family and colleagues to all that our organization does.
