Bette Midler, who often satirizes the Carpenters in her routines, recently met Richard and Karen Carpenter.
“Someday we must do a TV special together,” Miss Midler suggested to the singer.
“On one condition,” Karen Carpenter replied, “that I do a takeoff on you.”
