Mister D: I know that I’m biased but I have really learned to look at things as objectively as possible, and I’ve gotten very good at being fair, but there is no way the Beaches chicks should be all the way down at Number 9. That is outrageous. And it is even more outrageous that they are not at Number One. I have seen all the other movies at the theaters, except It’s A Wonderful Life, and I have never heard such an audible audience when Mayim Bialik appeared on screen in Beaches. There were gay and straight gasps, giggling, laughs, and OMG’s in the audience because Bialik was such an inspired choice to play Bette Midler. There was none of that at the other movies and to me that is the sure sign that Bette and Mayim win this little poll hands down.
The proper kid actor may make or ruin a film, especially if another actor is portraying the adult version of the same role. Brilliant casting is virtually a necessity for films like It Chapter 2 to work at all. Fortunately, Hollywood is brimming with skilled casting directors and brilliant performers, and there are several films in which they completely nail it. Two actors playing the same role is a difficult task for anyone, but these brilliant duos have managed to create magic out of a difficult performing assignment. They collaborated to bring a character to life, and they didn’t allow their age disparities to hinder them in the least. Of course, although some of these performers complement each other wonderfully in their joint roles, others fall short. Please let us know who your most convincing competitors are.
