What Is The Total Number Of Stepford Wive’s Movies? In 1975, the psychological thriller, The Stepford Wives, arrived in cinemas. The film – based on the book of the same name by Ira Levin – told the story of woman who moves with her family to a housing community, where all the women appear oddly subservient to their husbands.
Capturing the imagination of its audience with its intriguing premise, The Stepford Wives was soon followed by a collection of direct-to-TV sequels. A comedy remake also followed in 2004.

The remake

This is a 2004 remake of The Stepford Wives, pitched more as a sci-fi black comedy, rather than a thriller like the original. This film stars Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick, Glenn Close and Bette Midler.
