Bette Midler sings Peter Allen’s “I Could Marry The Rain”
July 21, 2023
On February 10, 1993, a star-studded Peter Allen Tribute was held at Royce Hall, UCLA, to benefit the Los Angeles Shanti Foundation. Shanti was the first organization in Los Angeles to provide direct support to persons with HIV/AIDS in 1983. The Foundation netted $245,000 from the benefit to provide free counseling and education to people affected by HIV/AIDS. At the request of The Peter Allen Estate, a research grant was given from a portion of the event’s proceeds to Dr. David Hardy at the UCLA Center for AIDS Research and Education.
Dr. Hardy provided care for Peter and said his “bright, high-energy music remains to remind us of a happier, more carefree time.” This is not the entire show since the cameraman only had one tape and so filmed only parts of it.

This i great Don, and especially a big thank you for the Bette song, “I Could Marry the Rain.” I had no idea the name of that as she sang it at the end of the Tenterfield Saddler song.
