Bette Midler became the “most bankable actress in Hollywood” with the enormous success of “RUTHLESS PEOPLE.” I thought it was very funny and I loved Bette in it…and it was thrilling to watch her become a huge movie star, which she definitely deserved. I say this because after her film debut in the absolutely brilliant film “THE ROSE” in 1979 she most definitely earned the privilege of becoming a box office powerhouse and that is exactly what she did!
