Q: Meanwhile, you’re delivering something else: another album. After selling 25 million [of her first three albums], what are you still hoping to accomplish musically?
A: Gosh. Jeez. Just maintaining the incredible success I’ve had these 10 years. I’m very eager to branch out and add other things to my plate, though. I want to grow as an artist. I look to Cher. Love Cher. Love what she’s doing. Bette Midler. Diana Ross. I’m trying to follow in those footsteps. Which is why I’m really excited that I’m headed back to Broadway. [She starred in “Beauty and the Beast” four years ago.] Once I have this baby, I’m starring in “Aida.” Another blessing.
