Thanks for the posts Don. Is thee any way to download and keep the Adele Instagram video? I have no idea how.
The YouTubes I know how to do.
Thank you.
I haven’t figured it out with Twitter. If I do I’ll post it again///xx
Thank you Don, btw, I meant Twitter, I miss-wrote Instagram.
I loved Billy Porter’s homage and entrance on a clamshell, I assume in reference to both Bette’s 1875 “Clams On The Half Shell Revue” entrance on Broadway as well as Bette’s 1977 NBC TV Special entrance to the show while singing “Oklahoma.’ Loved it.
You ALL know I meant to write “Bette’s 1975 “Clams…etc.” Just to be perfectly clear!!!!
I loved the whole show! The tribute to Joni Mitchell was Amazing-she is a genius at writing music and her voice is angelic!
The Berry Gordy tribute was also wonderful-and really liked the Lorne Michaels salute and though I do not listen to much opera the Justino Diaz tribute was very moving!
But, of course I was incredibly excited to finally see Bette receive this highest honor-so overdue!!!
She looked Amazing and it was great to see the video tribute from Adele who said she thought , in her opinion Bette was the greatest entertainer of “all” time -high praise coming from her and I whole heartedly agree!
I was able to see several clips in the news over the past several weeks before the special aired on CBS and Paramount Plus since it was a four hour event squeezed into two hours for television.
I was also glad to see Goldie Hawn and Barara Hershey and Scarlette Johanson there to honor Bette and pleasantly surprised to see Melissa Manchester there as well.
If I had any complaints it is in the music choices.
Wind Beneath my Wings was performed beautifully! But Billy Porter only singing about 10 seconds of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy-why even bother? Then he sings the song from First Wives Club that as he said “here’s the song that put me on the map, thanks to Bette, but it wasn’t even a song she ever sang and he spent the most time on that song.-it was more about his ego it seemed. The woman has a ton of great songs he could have added to the brief medley but he chose that one-just seemed very strange and a little egotistical on his part. I did like his version of” From A Distance”.
And to leave out one of her biggest classic hits The Rose!!! I was stunned at that!
Plus, to leave out mention of so many of her hit movies . In all fairness I thought the Joni Mitchell and Berry Gordy tributes also left out some of their biggest accomplishments as well.
It was a huge honor, a great tribute and long overdue and another huge feather in her cap of such an Amazing career!
BTW-was sad to see that it was very low in the ratings, but I have to wonder if that is also because it was streaming on two other platforms besides CBS and they usually don’t have the numbers for those to add in.
I wasn’t able to watch it the first night and had to go on You Tube the next night to watch it.
Bottom line…Congratulations to “The most Amazing Entertainer” of ALL time from a huge fan of 49 years!!!
