QUESTION: We hear that Pee-wee Herman has a private passion. What can it be, since we  already know more than we want to about his private l i f e? – A.R.
ANSWER: Pee-wee is a first-class gardener. He has a reputation in Hollywood as being really good at it. His f r i e n d, Bette Midler, puts it this way: “He’s a big gardener. Big, big, big.” And, she adds, no one who is a gardener can be all bad. Too bad Pee-wee wasn’t tending his garden rather than taking in X-raled movies that fateful night in his Florida hometown.
