NEW YORK — Manhattan-based artist Christopher Hardwick really knows how to light up a room: He designs light-up lingerie and wedding gowns. The so-called “Electric Bubble” line uses electrically-charged thread which glows in various neon hues and is encased in a floppy plastic tube that’s about the width of a spaghetti strand.
Hardwick weaves the light tubes into bras, jock straps, cowboy hats, tuxedos and other garments to create custom outfits for the likes of Bette Midler and the Pet Shop Boys. The cost ranges from $100 for a blazing bra to $1000 for a wedding dress.
