Shoe retailer DSW had to do some fancy footwork to lure a celebrity to its Manhattan store opening tomorrow.
To convince Bette Midler to show up, company executives had to donate a cool half million bucks to her New York Restoration Project. And for all that dough, the company isn’t even promoting the tie-in until tomorrow morning.
While the Divine Miss M won’t stick around the opening for long, DSW’s p.r. people have concocted a back-up plan to entice stiletto-wearing fashion editors to hang out at their new store: free foot massages.
