About: 09/15/2004 – Bette Midler: Simply Divine!

Jane Pauley welcomes Bette Midler.

Pauley and Midler’s conversation runs the gamut from Midler’s critically-acclaimed tour “Kiss My Brass,” about which Midler offers, “What else am I going to do after menopause?”; Midler’s philanthropic work with the New York Restoration Project, about which Midler quips, “Garbage was open!”; and what it means to be a “broad.”

On the show, Pauley and Midler revisit some of the performer’s most significant moments, including singing for Johnny Carson when he left “The Tonight Show,” making “The Rose,” and performing “The Wind Beneath My Wings” in New York after September 11th.

Midler says of her fans, “they love the surprises that happen”; and she delivers plenty of them over the course of an hour, ending the show by joining Jane in a duet of “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
