Concentrating on cakes

Alas, cakes are the stuff of which dreams are made, for master cake decorator and cookbook author Colette Peters, anyway.
Peters, author of Cakes to Dream On: A Master Class in Decorating (Wiley, $40), shares her expertise during an open house and book signing from 5-8 p.m. March 23 at the Wilton School of Cake Decorating & Confectionery Art.
A former designer at Tiffany’s, Peters is the owner of Colette’s Cakes in New York. A jewel of an artist, Peters is on the fast track to becoming cake designer to the stars, having created cakes for Al Pacino, Bette Midler, Joan Rivers, Donald Trump and Sam Donaldson.
In 2004 Peters was awarded first place in the Food Network’s First Annual Wedding Cake Challenge.
Peters’ book will be available for purchase during the event.
