Gone At Last? – Not Anymore

Not sure if some of you were aware or not, but the long, lost collaboration/duet between Paul Simon and Bette Midler has surfaced on one of his CD’s as a bonus track.. the song is Gone At Last and Paul Simon had a big hit with it with Phoebe Snow. Mr. Simon made on mistake…he didn’t tell Bette that he had changed the arrangement and his female singer. Bette found out about the whole thing when she heard it on the radio. Classy guy that Mr. Simon. Bette ended up using her own version of the song as part of the finale for “Clams” So she and Paul didn’t talk for years, but finally did make up during the We Are The World recording.

Anyway, now you can hear the results of that collaboration on this CD and it’s quite upbeat, danceable, and fun.:

  1. Remember at the end of “Buckets Of Rain” Bob Dylan says “you should have gotten Paul Simon…”, I wonder if that was an inside joke now?? Very interesting.
