STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – They are the very model of a modern women’s business center.
The West Brighton Local Development Corp. BOC Women’s Business Center is staging its sixth annual “21st Century Business Woman” conference Thursday in the Hilton Garden Inn, 1100 South Ave., Bloomfield.
The conference brings together businesswomen and established entrepreneurs for a day of professional development and networking. Included are a breakfast segment at 8:30 a.m. and a luncheon segment at 12:30 p.m.
The breakfast segment is dedicated to the memory of JoAnn Regan, who spearheaded the conference and whose mission it was to help business owners grow their enterprises. She died on May 25.
Breakout sessions will comprise two panels of experts on procurement in both the public and private sectors and how to make a business more sustainable by “going green.” The panels will feature several speakers, including those from the United States Small Business Administration, Capital One Bank, Consolidated Edison and Theresa Pepe, speechwriter for Al Gore.
The keynote address will be given by corporate trainer and Bette Midler impersonator Donna Maxon.
The fee is $65. For information, call the West Brighton LDC at 718-816-4775 or e-mail info@abcldc.org.
The West Brighton Local Development Corporation was designated a Women’s Business Center satellite office by the Small Business Administration in September 2004.
