LOS ANGELES – Mark Rydell will direct the motion picture debut of singer Bette Midler in The Rose which goes into production in March.
Rydell previously directed Cinderella Liberty, The Reivers, The Cowboys and The Fox.
Bo Goldman wrote the screenplay for The Rose, a musical love’ story set in the 1960s.
Midler will play a singing star.
