Steven Lippman (aka FLIP) will direct and co-write Stay All Night, a documentary about Judy Garland’s legendary April 23, 1961 Carnegie Hall concert.

Playwright Ain Gordon will co-write the film, which will also feature original music by Joe Henry. Academy Award winners Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman will serve as executive producers, and Mary Wharton will produce the film.

The film will make use of oral history and narration, archival, found, photographic, and newly-shot environmental footage, as well as music from the concert.

Lippman’s credits include a number of conceptual music films, videos and documentaries, including collaborations with David Bowie, Rosanne Cash, Laurie Anderson, Bette Midler, Carly Simon, and Esperanza Spalding.

  1. You don’t like David Bowie? Either that or his name won’t show up highlighted for review on the internet. Me suspects maybe that is true. He doesn’t just give it away. LOL
