The 1988 Garry Marshall directed film “Beaches” starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey is coming to Blu-ray Disc on November 6th via Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment according to an early alert to retailers. Tech specs for the release include full 1080p Hi-Def video and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The title is not yet available for pre-order over at Amazon but stay tuned. All of those extras are in a previous DVD. Disney comes up with wonderfully complete and in depth editions of its animation features, but does not a very good job with the Touchstone/ Midler material. They forget one of their buildings is nicknamed The Midler Building, after the one who provided the money for its construction.
