18 Stars Who Are Only One Award Away From Snagging An EGOT

One of the most coveted achievements in the world of entertainment is the EGOT. Some talented artists have received it, but what about the stars who are super close to receiving an EGOT? What even is an EGOT?
In case you’re confused, EGOT stands for Emmy, Oscar, Grammy, and Tony. Getting just one of these awards is a tremendous achievement. Getting all of them is nearly impossible. Less than 20 people have received all four awards, but greats like Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, and Mel Brooks have been awarded accordingly.
The term EGOT was actually coined by Miami Vice star Philip Michael Thomas in 1984. He even had the letters EGOT engraved in a gold pendant. “Hopefully in the next five years I will win all those awards,” he famously said. Unfortunately, though, Thomas has never been nominated for any of them.
Quite a few A-listers are close to having an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, much closer than Phillip Thomas, in any case. Their accomplishments should be applauded.
