On July 1, 2014, The Tracking Board reported that Tina Fey (30 Rock, SNL) and her production company, Little Stranger, were producing an untitled sequel to 1993’s Hocus Pocus, which starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. However, they weren’t sure if she would star in it or not.

A day later, Variety threw a bit of cold water on that report. According to them, Fey was working with Disney on a “movie that is centered around witchcraft but is unrelated to the Bette Midler laffer.” Even a rep for Fey put out statement dismissing The Tracking Board’s story: “Their report is not accurate – Tina is not developing a sequel to ”˜Hocus Pocus.'”

Fast forward to yesterday, however, and it would appear there is some truth to TB’s report. While participating in a Q&A at the Tribeca Film Festival on Tuesday, TV Guide’s Damian Holbrook asked Fey about Hocus Pocus, and she gave an interesting response.

Successfully sidestepping any details about her involvement in a possible “Hocus Pocus” project, Fey said, “There’s a script in development, it is not so much a remake.” – (via Variety)

Okay, so Fey’s Hocus Pocus movie is neither a sequel nor a remake. So, I guess it’ll be a re-imagining?
