NEW YORK — The “My Jeaneration” celebrity “Jean Art” auction raised thousands of dollars to help the Boomer Coalition increase awareness about cardiovascular disease among baby boomers.
The on-line auction of hand-embellished Levi’s jeans featured designs by Rue McClanhan, Andie MacDowell, Bette Midler, Henry Winkler, Phil Collins, Lynda Carter, Chevy Chase, Marilu Henner and many more. The top-sellers were Carter’s “Wonder Woman” jeans ($846) and Phil Collins’ jeans ($810).
“Every effort to raise awareness is a boost to the fight against CVD,” McClanahan said. “Let’s all kick it up!”
Andie MacDowell said: “My mother died at age 53 of a heart attack. Consequently, I worry about my own health and that of my family and I’m happy to support causes such as the Boomer Coalition that raise awareness of cardiovascular disease.
Bette Midler added: “I’m proud to be a Boomer and hope my Rose-inspired jeans inspire others to live a long and heart-healthy life.”
Part activist and part educator, Boomer Coalition aims to stem the tide of unnecessary deaths that result from undiagnosed and untreated CVD by creating events that inspire and empower baby boomers to take responsibility for their heart health. The non-profit organization has enlisted the help of well-known celebrities, musicians and leaders in the medical field to successfully raise awareness about CVD.
