Mister D: It’s funny how inspiration works. As a kid I was inspired by Bette Midler, Bruce Vilanch (yes, I was smart enough to know Mister V’s influence at an early age, after all, I was a Divine Child myself), Carole King, and Elton John. Of course, Bette led me to discover the likes of great songwriters like John Prine, Tom Waits, and Patty Griffin, to name a few.
Anyway, I did a one or 2 take version of Bette’s “Hello In There” a few years ago (not the best I’ve sung it), and some people really liked it. Katrin and Crystal were 2 that asked me to put it up on My Space, so I did, because I tend to do what I’m told…especially from 2 lovely ladies such as these. They’ve been big BLB supporters for a long time. Well, Katrin made a video for it (I believe she said she’s a newbie at this, so wow!)…it’s hard for me to say it, but she was inspired by my performance, plus she was inspired by a lot of the original video work Darrell Redmond had done (has done?) on his site, Bette On The Boards. You ladies and germs also need to check out his personal website: www.darrellredmond.com
I was so flattered by the video and the response to some of my music that it’s inspired me to keep on practicing and recording…so the wheel of inspiration keeps on turning. Not sure if I expressed this quite right, but I wanted to thank Katrin, Crystal, Max, Todd, Herb, Darrell, and others who have written me about my music and my dreams. To be honest, this has not been the best of years for me, but things are looking divine at this point…it helps when you have friends. And ya know….Ya Gotta Have Friends!!!!
Love, Mister D
Give Katrin some positive love for this!!! 🙂
