“Apple’s Way” Out, Cher Gets Series

Cher will make her first solo starring venture in a star-studded special at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9 on CBS to be followed by her own weekly comedy-music-variety series, cancelling “Apple’s Way”, currently seen at that time.
Both the special and the series will be titled “Cher,” announced Fred Silverman, Vice President of Programs for CBS.
In her special, Cher will be joined by noted show business personalities, including music superstars Elton John and Bette Midler and comedian Flip Wilson.
George Schlatter, creator and producer of the “Laugh-In” series for several season, will produce Cher’s special as well as her weekly series.
The final broadcast date of “Apple’s Way” has yet to be announced.
Scheduling the “Cher” series marks the completion of the mid-season program changes on the for CBS.
