David Bowie tribute will star Debbie Harry, Pixies, Mumford & Sons and Bette Midler

As the dust settles on Lady Gaga’s divisive Grammy’s tribute, a long and varied list of performers have been booked to celebrate the career of David Bowie at the late musician’s memorial concerts in New York. As well as the likes of Debbie Harry, REM’s Michael Stipe and the Pixies, folk group Mumford & Sons are reported to be on the bill.
The event at Carnegie Hall will take place on 31 March, with a second date at Radio City Music Hall taking place on 1 April.
Debbie Harry will perform a solo set at the first concert, before joining her Blondie bandmates at the Radio City Music Hall show. Any fans who attend both nights will get to see Mumford & Sons, Bette Midler and the Pixies, as well as The Donny McCaslin Group, who worked on Bowie’s final album Blackstar.
The newcomers to the bill join Cat Power, Laurie Anderson, the Roots, Perry Farrell, the Polyphonic Spree, the Roots and others on the bills, with more additions expected to come.
In addition to the New York events, Glastonbury has recently confirmed a “really exciting” David Bowie tribute at the festival, although how this will manifest has not yet been revealed.
