Mister D: Well, I’m speechless! I’m a big horror fan, but this is creepier than any horror flick I’ve seen in a while. Poor Dennis Quaid had to grow up with this! But I have to say, this is the best acting I’ve seen by Randy since those Vacation movies.
Randy Quaid caused quite the stir on Twitter when he shared an up-close-and-personal video addressing Bette Midler’s latest controversy with President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
With the camera hovering his eyes, nose, and mouth, the actor’s face and beard flash with reflections of a strobe light while he speaks in a deep and raspy voice: “Washed up psycho Bette Midler was forced to apologize for a statement attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her to make your very great president look really bad. She got caught, just like the fake news media gets caught. A sick scammer.”
The video, which appeared to be a reenactment of a tweet initially written by Trump, sparked a ton of speculation over Quaid’s mental stability. Some people couldn’t decipher if the actor was spoofing his followers with the dramatic reading while others suggested he may have been under the influence of drugs and perhaps was on a bad trip. There were some folks weren’t all that shocked by his seemingly odd behavior in the video at all and noted the National Lampoon’s Vacation star’s history of reading Trump tweets and his overall support of the president.
The general consensus, though, was that the video was undeniably creepy.

I had to delete that Randy Quaid video. Too creepy, even for me.
Quaid’s rant comes following Midler’s apology for sharing a quote in which Trump reportedly criticized the Republican Party and called them dumb. The comment, which turned out to be a fake, was attributed to a 1998 People magazine interview. “I apologize; this quote turns out to be a fake from way back in ’15-16. Don’t know how I missed it, but it sounds SO much like him that I believed it was true! Fact Check: Did Trump say in ’98 Republicans are dumb?” Midler wrote on Monday.
The president, who is wrapping up the last leg of his three-day U.K. tour, blasted Midler in a tweet on Wednesday. He referred to Midler as a “washed up psycho” and “a sick scammer.”

This isn’t the first time Quaid’s antics have caused people to worry for his mental health. The Independence Day actor made headlines back in 2015 after he and his wife Evi Quaid were arrested in Vermont based on a California arrest warrant from 2010.
The couple believed Hollywood killers were after them so they fled the country for Canada in 2010. Authorities weren’t aware the pair was on the lam until they failed to show up in court over felony vandalism charges—they reportedly did $5,000 worth of damage to a property they previously owned in Santa Barbara.
When they were discovered in Canada five years later, they claimed the same “Hollywood star whackers” responsible for actor Heath Ledger’s death were out to get them. The Quaids announced their asylum in Canada as an effort to save their lives. Ledger, who starred alongside Randy Quaid in Brokeback Mountain, died of an accidental drug overdose in 2008.

Is Randy Quaid being sardonic or supportive in his Twitter video? I honestly can’t tell ??????
@ryanfield
I am so glad I didn’t watch the Randy Quaid video at 2 in the morning. That’s scarier than spiders.
@BestBBEvers
Randy Quaid is a tragic example of the fact that we are in the Dark Ages when it comes to psychological Health in America.
This is not a time for ridicule. He has talked about the trauma of being raped when he was 5 & his descent into madness is heartbreaking. #loveandhealing
