Ringo Starr’s 4th RSD Boasts New Superstar Friends

Ringo Starr’s 4th RSD (Record Store Day) album will be released April 23, 2022 in two colors (orange and blue)and new superstar friends to lend a hand. This go round they were Bette Midler, Arif Mardin, King Crimson Bassist, Tony Levin (remember Bette and Martin met first at one of King Crimson’s concerts), Luther Vandross, David Bromberg, Melissa Manchester and David Foster.

Ringo the 4th was released in 1977 and became one of his most beloved albums in the ’70s, ‘Drowning In The Sea Of Love’, Tango All Night (Bette Midler on Backing vocals), a dance floor rocker, “Can She Do It Like She Dances” , and Allen Toussaint’s ‘Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley’, which also became a breakout hit from Robert Palmer.

I found the song Bette sings on, guess where? YouTube so I provided the audio below. So be sure to look for it on Record Store Day, April 23rd, 2022. This album has long been out of circulation, so hopefully, it will come out on CD as well.

Now, I swear, when I bought the album, Tango All Night, had a crowd of background singers behind Ringo, but several places online just list Bette as the background singer. I’m sure she’s in the chorus, but I don’t hear her. Maybe with some fresh ears, some of you may.
