Bette Tweets To Those Shits In Congress And Gives A Big F.U. To ConAgra!

Bette Midler tweets her reaction to the news that Congress’ final version of a spending bill would unravel school lunch standards and the Obama administration’s efforts to take unhealthy foods out of schools. Congress’ version of the Bill would allow tomato paste on pizzas to be counted as a vegetable much like the Reagan administration’s much-ridiculed attempt 30 years ago to classify ketchup as a vegetable to cut costs About the author Will Kohler has written 3335 articles on this blog. 1. Rock on Bette!
My work w/youth in the city and seeing food deserts everywhere, only makes me believe this more. Some of the kids I work with have never seen a vegetable anywhere but on a store shelf (if they are lucky).
Have faith Bette, there is a movement to try and work with the school districts (maybe futile but we’re trying) to at least get school gardens built, the kids growing & learning about healthier eating habits….it’s a start.

  2. I’ve never been a fan of Coca-Cola since my aging grandmother was knocked to the ground in a supermarket by a Coca-Cola driver, who was delivering Coke to the store. My grandmother suffered a concussion and short-term memory loss when her head hit the floor. Having limited income, she sued for her hospital stay and medical and attorney expenses (only around $25K). Due to her age, Coca-Cola responded that they would fight her in court for as long as it took, and that my grandmother would die of old age before she ever got a penny out of Coca-Cola. I think they settled out of court for around $8K, which covered the majority of “actual” expenses, but she still hasn’t recovered some of her memory, and struggles with words frequently.

I don’t mean this to be an endorsement for Pepsi, but just to support Bette’s tweets about Coca-Cola being ruthless and self-serving. I mean, how much more successful can Coca-Cola become? They have no heart.
