Sorry…I just had to post this. Of course it’s sad when anyone dies…at any age. This one hits hard because Heath has never been on the radar as a party animal out of control, as far as I know. Apparently drugs were involved (most reports say there were sleeping pills – OTC) but he had an appt with a masseus. He had told the housekeeper to wake him for it. That to me rules out suicide, but maybe an accidental overdose. Of course, we wont’ know anything until the autopsy is completed. Anyway, I remembered this beautiful trailer of Brokeback Mountain put to the music of Bette Midler’s “The Rose.”

An avid family man, Heath knew that taking the role in “Brokeback Mountain” meant he might never work again.
I have always immensely admired his courage as well as his talent, sense of humor, and being such an all-around good person.

Hi Hub and Wendy: Well, I just felt awful when I heard the news. He was just off the radar for this kind of behavior. I hope they do find it to be accidental.
I thought he was brave, as Hub said, and I felt he created one of the most devastating characters in movie history. I still think he should have won the Oscar over Hoffman, but that’s trivial.
He was a great talent and I was looking forward to many more roles to come. I saw the previews of that new Batman movie and he created something very scary in this Joker….

He was one of my favorite young actors. I thought he was so brave to do Brokeback Mountain and decided from that point on to always support his work…

for some reason….this reminds me of Andy Gibb’s death in a way.
I mean, a very handsome young man, with his whole life ahead of him, great life, got into some trouble at first, got out of that, got back on track….and yet, it ended in tragedy.
I don’t know, that’s what it reminds me of.

This news has totally shattered almost all of us in Australia. Heath has a huge Gay following and this was even before he made Brokeback Mountain. He always spoke out for Gay rights in Australia going back before he even made Brokeback.
It’s a shame that such a young life has come to a tragic end, as with anyones whether they are a friend who works in a bank, a gardener, a family member or a friend who feels like a family member.
But most of all, let’s not forget his family and his daughter Matilda, to them our deepest of sympathies.
And to Heath, your always going to be remembered, your loss will be felt, and from a member of the Gay community in Australia that you helped fight for, a heartfelt thank you, I hope you find peace.

I was very shocked when I heard about it. I think it’s a terrible thing to happen, especially because he was such a talented young actor. He will sorely be missed.
Hey Manny, Kat, and Christina: Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. For anyone not familiar with my site here…I do color outside the lines often. I just felt this deeply, so I posted it. I know there has been a lot going on with other celebs…Brad Renfroe comes to mind…but you knew he was in trouble for a long time and frankly, none of his work touched me. Just my opinion.
I have always liked Mr. Ledger, felt he was charming, seemed very uncomfortable in the limelight (deep in the back of my mind that worried me), and always polite..Manny saw a side I didn’t know about in Australia which makes me like and now miss him that much more….but beyond that, I will always hold a spot for him in my heart for his participation in BBM and the character he developed from scratch….molding himself into one of the most tortured souls, in such a realistic and understated way, the movie screen has ever seen….He was an extremely talented young actor and I had looked forward to seeing his future in the movies.
And, on a lighter note….he was robbed of that Oscar, I tell you. Hoffman a close second.

Brandon: I don’t know if you’ve seen the trailer or not, but this Joker is dark, scary looking, and very mentally deranged…not like we are used to in the TV series or with Jack Nicholson. I hope Heath gets accolades for the performance….the trailer ever scared me.
