Who should fill Abdul’s shoes on ”˜Idol’?

America, you decide: Does it really take two to replace Paula Abdul?
Posh Spice and Katy “I Kissed a Girl” Perry reportedly will be sitting in for the now-departed “American Idol” judge, joining the jury of Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
Which got us to thinking: “This is the best they could do?”
But if Perry and Victoria Beckham – better known for their costumes and presentation than their music – don’t seem to be particularly well-suited to the task, then who does? We came up with a quick half-dozen women who’d be outspoken, bring TV-sized personalities and performance chops that neither Randy Dog nor Kara could approach. And they all could wither Simon with a look.
Cher – Although she’s gone Vegas, the Queen of the Singles can still bring it.
Diana Ross – It’s high time for the leonine Miss Ross to return to the limelight.
Bette Midler – The Divine Miss M would pull no punches, but it’d be done with love.
Cyndi Lauper – That “She’s So Unusual” is a given – as is her vocal range and performing style.
Chaka Khan – The very definition of the word “fierce.” Don’t forget: she’s “Every Woman,” not Whitney Houston.
Grace Slick – Adding a little countercultural spice to the “AI” pabulum would be tasty, and it might even be healthy.
