The cast of “Glee” will be helping fashionistas shop till they drop on Sept. 8 for this year’s Fashion’s Night Out event, to be held in stores across the country and online.
Sources told Page Six that “Glee” cast members will act as spokespersons for the worldwide shopping initiative spearheaded by Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour. During the event, participating stores offer special products, discounts and extend normal shopping hours.
“Glee” stars Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss and others will appear at retail locations from New York to Los Angeles, insiders said. For the first time this year, e-commerce sites, including Net-a-Porter, Shopbop and others, will also participate.
The partnership was brokered in part by Bee Shaffer, Wintour’s daughter. Shaffer is interning at the LA-based production company of “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy, and sources said she in turn made the connection between the show and Vogue.
Fashion’s Night Out, now in its third year, has previously hosted a slew of events and appearances with Halle Berry, Justin Timberlake, Hugh Jackman, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Daphne Guinness, Victoria Beckham and designers including Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan.
Fashionistas can shop while partaking in unique in-store entertainment — such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler singing show tunes with Oscar de la Renta, or Ed Westwick playing darts with menswear designer Simon Spurr.
Last year’s big night also included a fashion show at Lincoln Center, which was filmed for part of a CBS documentary on the creation of the annual event. The “Glee” cast also taped its second-season finale there.
A rep for Fashion’s Night Out told us, “We don’t comment on rumors.”
