I just got confirmation that Bette will be starring in a movie with Billy Crystal in which he plays a minor league broadcaster, living in Fresno. No word yet on Bette’s role (although I’m guessing it’s his wife) or the movie’s title.

I think HBO should have waited for Bette to get better before continuing with the Phil Spector Story. (Picking up Helen Mirren, though, was a nice “recovery” on their part). I’m just happy to see Bette in a picture again! Go, Bette and Billy!

It will be interesting to see what Mr Mamet has to say about this. He was not a happened camper when Jeremy piven quit and then worked on other project.
I kept mentioning that story but this one is a little different. Bette still hasn’t started working whereas Mamet needed a replacement right away for Bette’s part. And she had doctor’s orders and proof. She’s also still in pain. She has alittle way to go before they need her.
My God, guys. This is not a TV film. It’s a 20th Century Fox motion picture, it takes time to make. They are shooting around her while The Divine One is not OK. After that, they are going to have a much longer post-production period than a made-for-TV flick. Mamet, certainly, didn’t have the cash to wait for Bette.
I even think that it’s possible that Bruce Vilanch had something to do with attaching Miss M to this Crystal project. You know Bruce uses to work for Billy…
I can answer this one. Bruce didn’t have anything to do with it. Billy wanted Bette from the start.
