They were red carpet rivals for one night only.
And Bette Midler scored a sensational victory over Barbara Walters in their fashion face-off at a charity event in New York on Tuesday.
Miss M looked simply divine as she graced the Literacy Partners 30th Annual Evening Of Readings.
The 68-year-old looked great for her age in a silken green gown, which was decorated with semi-precious gemstones around the neckline and cuffs.
She raised the bling stakes even higher by wearing massive golden earings that drew attention to her trendy blonde hairstyle.
But while the Wind Beneath My Wings star was turning heads, she had competition from another golden oldie at the event.
For old journalism warhorse Barbara Walters had also aimed high in the glamour stakes for her appearance in front of photographers.
The 84-year-old revelled in showing off her fabulous figure in a purple jumpsuit, and added extra pop to her look with a necklace of ostentatious orange beads.
Barbara finally retired after 53 years at the top in May, resigning her seat on hit chat show The View.
However last week it was announced she is ‘coming out of retirement’ in order to do a special 20/20 interview with Peter Rodger, the father of Isla Vista killer Elliot Rodger.
Erm Bette looked ‘great for her age’. I don’t think so – Bette looked great. End of!
