Legendary performer Bette Midler has announced Tampa will be a stop during her first major tour in a decade.
Midler will play the Amalie Arena on May 11 as part of her North American tour, with tickets going on sale Dec. 8 at 10 a.m.
The tour coincides with the release of “It’s The Girls!”, an album in which Midler pays tribute to girl groups through the years – including the World War II-era Andrews Sisters, 1960s icons The Supremes, and ”˜90s stars TLC.
Fans purchasing tickets online will receive a copy of the new CD, which she is promoting with appearances on the “Today” show, “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and “Live! With Kelly and Michael.”
Midler, who has won multiple Grammys, Emmys and Golden Globe awards, and has been nominated for two Academy Awards, has earned acclaim with the release of several track previews from the album. Just a few hours after the release of TLC’s “Waterfalls,” the song climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard charts.
Presale of tickets will be available to American Express card holders beginning Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. in select markets.
