So here is my story… I can’t describe the feeling of standing face to face with someone you’ve adored since you were a small kid. She held my hands the whole time we were talking. I told her I’ve been a fan since I was 6 years old and she looked confused and said “what… why?” I told her my story. When I was 3 or 4 my mom worked a night shift at a grocery store. Every night before she left for work I made her play her From a Distancecassette single for me. I fell in love with the voice. A few years later I saw Hocus Pocus and my mom told me she was the one who sang From a Distance. I told Bette that I’ve been with her ever since. She said that was really sweet and seemed truly grateful. After that we got our picture taken. She squeezed my elbow as I was walking away and said “it’s been a pleasure.” I don’t think she’ll ever know how much this meant to me.
