Dear Stacy: As a big fan of Bette Midler, I’m very curious to know how well she did in her debut acting job in the upcoming “The Rose” movie. – Kenny, Newark, N.J.

Dear Kenny: According to “Rose” director Mark Rydell, Bette was nervous before’shooting began, but “she’s like a fine thoroughbred horse that dances furiously until it’s put in the starting gate. She was high strung and nervous, but the minute I said ‘go,’ it all became a constructive source of energy she applied to her work.
