LOS ANGELES CAP) – Actress and singer Bette Midler and her newborn daughter are doing fine and should soon be leaving the hospital, the star’s spokesman said “The Divine Miss M” named the girl Sophie, publicist Mark Stern said from his New York office. “The name is Sophie von Haselberg – sounds like royalty, doesn’t it?”
Miss Midler married Martin von Haselberg, a performance artist in 1984. The baby is the couple’s first. Miss Midler, 40, delivered the 8-pound ii-ounce girl a week ago at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
